A Rare Vantage

During the winter of 2022, while travelling in Qld, I approached the top edge of a gorge and noticed a Wedgetail Eagle fly off into the gorge. Looking to where she appeared to have come from I spotted a nest containing 2 eggs. Being a nature lover and keen wildlife photographer I felt very lucky, given that eagles nests are usually well above where we mere humans are able to see. Figuring that she`s incubating the eggs and wont be off them for too long I headed back to the car and got my long lens. Sure enough by the time I returned she was back.

Dad was on sentry duty across the other side of the gorge and I headed off to camp, returning in the morning following a rainy night, to find the mother still there and sopping wet.

Thus began a two and a half month adventure for me.

I continued on my way, to settle for a while about 500Km from the nest.
